The Spectrum Difference
Spectrum Staffing Solutions, LLC offers a unique personal touch that you can’t find in other Personal Support Specialist courses.  All classes are led by renowned instructor, Denise Feeney, licensed administrator.  Denise has a passion for teaching and extensive experience in numerous facets of healthcare.  She is dedicated to helping each of her students succeed not only in their PSS course, but in their new chosen career in healthcare.

We offer flexible class scheduling to fit your busy lifestyle!  
All classes are held at Spectrum Staffing Solutions, LLC home office, conveniently located in downtown Westbrook, Maine. Our office is easily accessible from I-95 and offers plenty of free parking.  We can accommodate requests for alternate training sites with a minimum of 10 students.



Personal Support Specialist Program
The 50-hour live classroom presentation consists of the following modules:

  • Entering the Health Care and Human Service Fields
  • Basic Work Skills and Job Maintenance
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects of Care
  • Communication
  • Observation, Reporting, and Documentation
  • Health, Safety, and Fire Prevention
  • Introduction to Job Skills
  • Understanding the Consumer as an Individual
  • Concepts of Aging and Illness
  • Activities of Daily Living
  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living
  • Transfers
  • Consumer Emergencies
  • Approaches to Teaching Procedures
  • Skills Lab Preparation




Test Out Services
Fee- $75  Students currently holding one of the following valid certifications may be eligible to test out and receive their PSS certification.


  • Behavioral Health Professional
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Direct Support Professional
Tuition- $275 for all course instruction, testing, & class materials.
This course is a comprehensive interactive 50-hour course taught by a certified instructor.  Upon successful completion of the course, individuals can provide direct care to clients in Assisted Living Facilities, Residential Care Facilities Adult Day Care Programs, and Home Care settings.


  • Students must be 17 years of age, have a tenth grade education, and be able to read and write English. Students must attend all scheduled classes and successfully complete all course requirements.  A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is due at time of registration.  Balance is due prior to class.
